EAST NAPLES. Those in the know claim that Amador's Bistro Italiano, located across the bay from "Tin City," is one of the top Italian restaurants in the Naples area. The atmosphere here is quite homey, if not a little tight at times. Chef Amador boasts over 20 different types of pasta and a menu that includes everything from veal chicken cacciatore to lamb chops and mushrooms smothered in portabella sauce. The "Amador Salad" is extremely popular as well, and it is more than one person can handle. Try and save room for dessert, for Amador does not disappoint. Reservations are suggested.

OLDE TOWNE. This Naples restaurant, located at the Neapolitan Way shopping center, serves excellent traditional Italian cuisine. The atmosphere here is charming and comfortable, and the service is impeccable. Chef Guiseppe Amore's pasta dishes are, in essence, sublime. Al fresco dining is available, and reservations are suggested.

OLDE NAPLES. This classy Third Street eatery, located in an old mercantile building, is popular in the Naples area. Inside, you'll find an inviting dining area, spacious bar area, and a large, open kitchen complete with a traditional wood-burning oven. The menu bears a definite Tuscan lilt, and Chef Wicklander offers such excellent dishes as baked snapper served with artichokes and potato purée and several homemade pasta dishes. Live entertainment is common here, and fountain-side al fresco seating is available.

OLDE NAPLES. Pazzo! is one of the most reasonably priced Italian restaurants in Naples. The décor at this "crazy" restaurant, purportedly one of the most exciting in town, is modern with a bit of a Southwestern lilt, and the open kitchen adds an air of comfort to the dining area. Menu favorites here include shrimp scampi, homemade pasta dishes, and, of course, the "House Ravioli." The wine list here is quite admirable, and the dessert menu is superb.
